On April 5, 2023, the new topic "INDUSTRIAL AND DOMESTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT" was presented to the participants of the Interdisciplinary Studies "European Green Dimensions".
The International Project is being implemented at the Ecology Department of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University with the support of the EU Erasmus+ Programme Jean Monnet_Department.
During the meeting, the issues that aroused interest among a wide audience of studios were covered, namely:
· national policy and strategic planning in the field of waste management;
· structure of waste;
· main problems in the field of waste management;
· licensing conditions for conducting economic activities of hazardous waste management;
· hazardous waste management requirements;
· control system for the field of waste management;
· Law of Ukraine "On Improvement of Settlements";
· status of waste storage facilities and ownership.
It is emphasized that the inequality between the volume of waste accumulation and the measures aimed at preventing its formation, expanding utilization, disposal and removal deepens the environmental crisis, gives it a progressive character, and becomes an inhibitory factor for the national economy of our country. So, currently only 1,707 settlements have implemented separate collection of household waste, 35 waste sorting lines, 1 waste incineration plant, 3 waste incineration plants are operating, where only about 6.3% of household waste is processed and disposed of. However, Ukraine has an inexhaustible potential for implementing a recycling program at the state level, as the only civilized way of waste management.
