The series of Interdisciplinary Studies "European Green Dimensions", which takes place within the framework of the Project with the support of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Program of the European Union, continues.
On January 31, 2024, the topic "Strategies of the EU's environmental policy" was presented to the participants.
The main issues for discussion were the following:
UN Environment Program;
UN conferences on climate change;
EU-US relations on environmental issues;
Road map of Ukraine's participation in the European Green Deal.
The main areas of UNEP activity have been defined. The main initiatives of Ukraine at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) are highlighted. Two dimensions of importance for Ukraine, in terms of climate change and green recovery, are presented. The ways of cooperation between the European Union and the United States of America in matters of energy and sustainable development are outlined. Attention is focused on the development by Ukraine and the EU of the Roadmap for Ukraine's participation in the European Green Deal (EGD).
The main conclusion of the topic was: in the medium-term perspective, the EGD will have an extremely large impact on the economic and social life in Ukraine. The main emphasis must be placed on the need to ensure a fair transition to low-carbon energy and economy, avoid negative social consequences (reduction of employment, incomes) and promote sustainable economic development.
