such a topic was presented on February 14, 2024 to the participants of the Interdisciplinary Studies "European Green Dimensions" held with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union Jean Monnet_Chair. The project, under the leadership of prof. Olena Mitryasova, implemented at the Department of Ecology "Mohylyanka".
The leitmotif for the open lecture was the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry "You cannot say that water is necessary for life: it is life itself!"
The listeners participated in the discussion of the following issues: water in numbers and facts; Water Framework Directive as the main document to ensure water monitoring; status of water resources; types and procedures of state water monitoring; the European experience of water monitoring, as well as the water problem of the city of Mykolaiv during wartime.
During the presentation, promising initiatives for the introduction of research monitoring in Ukraine through the pilot project of the development of a comprehensive system of online monitoring of the state of water arteries in the Chernihiv region were also presented.
"Currently, the water deficit is more than 40% of the world's population. A large number of people are forced to use water that does not meet sanitary and hygienic standards. There is a high probability that wars will break out over the control of fresh, clean water..." - these and other aspects of water management and service were discussed during the meeting.
