"INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF WATER RESOURCES: CHALLENGES OF THE 21ST CENTURY" -
this topic was presented on February 15, 2023 to the participants of the Interdisciplinary Studies "European Green Dimensions", which take place with the support of the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union Jean Monnet_Chair.
The leitmotif for the open lecture was the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry "You cannot say that water is necessary for life: it is life itself!"
The listeners participated in the discussion of the following issues: water in numbers and facts; the Water Framework Directive as the main document to ensure water monitoring; status of water resources; types and procedures of state water monitoring; the European experience of water monitoring, as well as the water problem of the city of Mykolaiv during wartime.
"Currently, the water deficit is more than 40% of the world's population. A large number of people are forced to use water that does not meet sanitary and hygienic standards. There is a high probability that wars will break out over the control of fresh, clean water..." - these and other aspects of water management and service were discussed during the meeting.
